Ramblers welcome IOM in historic first meeting

By Guest 9th Nov 2021

Sandbach United will welcome FC Isle of Man to Hind Heath Road in the first ever meeting between the two sides on today (Tuesday 9th November).

After a difficult September was followed by an inconsistent start to October, Sandbach have got their season back on track as a three-game winning spree was capped by advancing in the FA Vase past Eynesbury Rovers.

Since the cup fixture, the Ramblers have drawn successive games 1-1 against Cheadle Town and Barnton respectively, although can count themselves rather unlucky as they heavily dominated both games and were unfortunate not to leave with maximum points on either occasion.

Despite their form picking up, results in other games have not been fortuitous for the Cheshire side and they have slipped out of the playoff positions into 7th place, 4 points ahead of Stafford with a game in hand.

Unbeaten in five across all competitions, FC Isle of Man will be a difficult opponent but find their hosts in a solid run of form.

The visitors are enjoying their first season in the NWCFL and currently sit in 5th place; the final promotion playoff position after 17 games played.

After government coronavirus restrictions saw the Douglas side unable to play any home fixtures until the 30th October, the team have become the highest scorers in the entire NWCFL with 61 goals scored.

Sean Doyle has become the name on everyone's lips as he picked up the Division One South Player of the Month for October, with the forward scoring 13 goals throughout the month including a 6-goal haul against Abbey Hulton United.

A hat-trick in their most recent game against Stafford Town sees the striker continue his fine form in front of goal and will be eager to add to his tally against the Ramblers.

Kick-off is at 7:45pm on tonight (Tuesday 9th November).
