Angry protesters marched from The Cobbles in Sandbach to council offices at the weekend to make a stand against planned car parking charges in Sandbach.

And campaigners from the special group set up, Action Against Cheshire East Parking Charges, will be outside Sandbach Town Hall tonight (Monday) to have their say.

Sandbach Nub News revealed here how around 16 businesses in the town displayed 'closing down' signs in their windows on Saturday (October 14) following the news Cheshire East Council is considering plans to start charging in council car parks.

The business' protest coincided with the organised march from The Cobbles in Sandbach to the Sandbach headquarters of Cheshire East Council, Westfields.

One business owner told Nub News: "The businesses are already struggling and parking charges could be the nail in the coffin."

Lead organiser, Laura Dytham, said around 750 signatures were collected at Sandbach Maker's Market on Saturday from a stall the group had at the market.

She said: "We haven't got much time as the consultation process closes on November 1st.

"It's important that as many people as possible make their feelings known.

"There's a town council meeting tonight and we'll be standing outside the offices making our feelings known."
