The Sandbach town councillor who resigned after breaching the code of conduct has said he was the victim of a two year hate campaign.

As revealed in Sandbach Nub News yesterday here.David Jack (Ind) quit Sandbach Town Council on Friday.

This is about seven weeks after a Cheshire East Council hearing sub-committee found he had breached the code of conduct with remarks made in emails and on social media.

Mr Jack has told the Local Democracy Reporting Service he had been the victim of a two year hate campaign.

He also said he had learned allegations had been made against him to the police – although he did not know what these related to.

In his lengthy resignation letter he stated: "Two weeks of this nonsense is enough for anyone I'm sure, I've fought it for more than two years."

He also said there had been 187 complaints made against him and they had 'come from the same 12 people time and time again'.

Mr Jack said during his time on Sandbach Town Council, 'I drove an agenda of change and engagement and brought forward many projects for the benefit of the town'.

"Sadly, certain councillors didn't like being upstaged and were hungry to control me and rein me in," he said in his resignation letter.

He made numerous allegations in the letter against councillors and officials from various public bodies and signed off saying: "I'd like to say it's been a pleasure, but that would be a lie."

Cheshire Police confirmed allegations had been made regarding Mr Jack but would not comment on what they related to.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we have received a number of allegations and counter allegations, all of which are being looked into."
