Sandbach has a new mayor and deputy mayor.
Councillor Ann Nevitt became the new mayor and Councillor John Arnold her deputy at the fiftieth annual meeting of Sandbach Town Council last night (Wednesday).
Cllr Nevitt takes over from the outgoing mayor, Councillor Laura Crane, who stepped down at last night's meeting.
Cllr Nevitt, who grew up in Scholar Green, said she felt 'honoured' to become mayor.
"I will continue the success of Sandbach Town Council at various events throughout the year," she said.
Both Cllr Nevitt and Cllr Arnold wore purple as a sign of the town council working together as a team.
Cllr Arnold, who grew up in Congleton, said he was 'excited' to become deputy mayor and was looking forward to the year ahead.
The outgoing mayor, Cllr Crane, said she felt Sandbach Town Council had never been stronger and paid homage to its "phenomenal" staff.
"The past year has cemented my love of Sandbach which is a blend of a market with an industrial identity."
Cllr Crane said she had attended over 80 events, describing Sandbach as a 'jewel in the crown', thanking the council for putting their faith in her.
Several other local mayors and dignitaries attended the mayor making ceremony from the neighbouring towns of Bollington, Middlewich, Knutsford and Congleton.
Sandbach Nub News wishes Cllr Nevitt and Cllr Arnold much success in their year in office.
