St John's Church of England Academy in Sandbach was proud to welcome Sarah Russell MP for a special visit, giving her the opportunity to see first-hand the significant progress the school has made since joining North West Academies Trust.

Prior to becoming part of the Trust, the school had received an 'inadequate' Ofsted judgement. Since then, staff, pupils and leaders have worked tirelessly to transform the learning environment, strengthen standards and rebuild a strong sense of pride aross the school community.

During her visit, Congleton MP Sarah Russell, whose constituency includes Sandbach, toured the academy alongside Headteacher, Ricky Huddart, who shared photographs showing the school before it joined the Trust last January.

The images highlighted the journey St John's in Sandbach Heath has been on over the past year, demonstrating the improvements made to both the physical environment and the culture of the school.

The MP commented on the positive atmosphere throughout the building and was impressed by the clear progress being made.

Mr Huddart said: "We were delighted to welcome Sarah to St John's and to share the story of our school's journey. Our staff and pupils have shown incredible determination and commitment.

"It was wonderful to hear such positive feedback about the progress we are making and the warm, purposeful atmosphere that now defines our school."

The children thoroughly enjoyed hosting their visitor and proudly showed her around their classrooms.

They spoke confidently about their learning and asked thoughtful questions about her role and life in Parliament, alongside a few humorous ones, including, "How much do you earn, is it a lot?" Sarah responded warmly, explaining that MPs' salaries are publicly available and saying, "I do okay, you can actually see how much I earn online."

The visit marks another positive step forward for St John's CE Academy as it continues its journey of improvement, supported by North West Academies Trust and the wider community.
