Cheshire residents who have been affected by road traffic collisions will be supported by a specialist charity following a £2,000 grant from the county's police and crime commissioner (PCC).

Brake, a road safety charity, has supported 11 Cheshire residents whose loved ones had either been killed or seriously injured in road traffic collisions last year and this funding will allow more local people to be given vital support.

Sandbach United ran out 2-0 victors over Northwich Victoria in the last friendly before the league restart.

The Ramblers hosted their fellow Cheshire-based side on a cold, windy afternoon in the North of England, with a strong chill in the air as the ball was first kicked. The visitors started the stronger side and forced Danny Hamlett into a fine save after two minutes as he tipped over a looping header.
