Sandbach United FC has announced its annual Football Festival will return this summer with plans for it to be "bigger and better than ever".

The festival features 21 tournaments covering boys and girls teams from under 7s right through to under 18s and will be spread over every weekend in July.

Oliver Byron, the club's head of football, said: "The games are full format, so that means if you play nine-a-side in your league games, you'll play nine-a-side in your tournament.

"We've also got a plate this year, so there's everything to play for. Every single team that enters our tournament this season has got the opportunity to win something."

Oliver explained that the top eight teams in the tournaments would go forward to play for a cup with a quarter-final onwards, and the remaining eight teams will go into a plate competition. "There really is everything to play for," he said.

"We can't wait to get you back. We're planning a really big summer of football at Sandbach United and this is going to play a massive part in that," Oliver added.

The event is being held in affiliation with the Cheshire Football Association.
