Salt in Cheshire - an illustrated talk
Sandbach Library - upstairs meeting room
Culture
Friday 4th April

Cheshire has been known as a source of salt for millennia. Its importance to Ancient Britons and Romans for keeping people and animals healthy, as well as preserving and seasoning food, led to the rise of the Cheshire Wiches.
In more recent centuries, the availability of Cheshire salt led to the development of the chemical industry in Runcorn and Widnes.
Salt in Cheshire is the next topic in Mike Tingle's Monthly Miscellany series of illustrated presentations at Sandbach Library. They take place on the first Friday morning of each month, covering a variety of subjects of local and/or historical interest.
The talk will be presented at 11am on Friday 4th April in the upstairs meeting room at Sandbach Library; and will be repeated at Congleton Library (2:30pm Monday 14th) and Holmes Chapel Library (11am Tuesday 15th).
Come and learn about the domestic and industrial importance of this vital mineral.
There is no charge, though donations are appreciated.
