Moving walls, dressing unusual windows, helping to choose a light fighting and jetting off to sun-kissed Mallorca to finish a project – it's all in a day's work for The Design House.

For it doesn't matter how big or small the project is, the highly-acclaimed owners of The Design House, Mark and Maxine Scott, approach the work with the same level of skill and attention to detail.

And it's this cutting-edge key for detail and style which puts this innovative Holmes-Chapel based business streets ahead in the home décor stakes.

So renowned are the talents of The Design House that the work takes the firm all over the UK and even overseas, recently completing another project in Mallorca, this time a "casita" or small lodge.

"The client wanted casita developed and decorated in keeping with the main house," said Mark. "We sourced what was needed and shipped it over, then spent a week there finishing it off.

"The client is delighted, saying it has the air of luxury and the look of a hi-end boutique hotel. It has a bedroom with a small kitchen incorporated and feels like a hotel suite."

Another project they're working on is redesigning a home on the outskirts of Manchester for a high-profile businesswoman who wanted the main bedroom in to be a master suite.

"We'd done work for one of her family members and were recommended," said Mark. "It's a big project which has taken several months but should be completed by Christmas.

"We've worked with joiners, electricians and a host of other trades on the house which has a media wall and fire place in the master suite. The client wants neutral colours."

Both Mark and Maxine have a real flair for interior design, firmly footed in their past as we revealed in our article here

Mark started life as a tailor's cutter before moving into property software as a high-flying sales consultant and Maxine is a former fashion designer and their combined skills make them a sought-after business.

"No two projects are the same," said Mark. "Every project is different which makes it so interesting."

Not surprisingly, The Design House is often asked to work on show homes and apartments. One project recently completed are large family show homes for Oak N Gate at Trentham Fields.

Another project involved dressing windows in seven apartments for a charity in Harrogate which involved 165 metres of voile.

And to make life easier for customers, the Design House is poised to launch an on-line shop to make ordering certain items easier.

"We can offer all kinds of things from thermal linings for curtains to keep the heat in during the winter months and out during the summer. We're looking at ways of designing interiors to make them more energy-efficient to help," said Mark.
